The History of Sew Tec

Sew Tec came to be when Sewing Machines Etcetera in Burlington, (AKA Sew Etc), closed its doors for the last time in 2018. Paul Taylor, who freelanced as a Sewing Machine Technician at the store, decided to start his own sewing machine service and repair business in his home in Burlington. In an effort to maintain a connection in customers’ minds with the much-loved Sew Etc, Paul decided to name the business “Sew Tec”. Paul is factory-trained in the service and repair of Husqvarna-Viking and Pfaff sewing machines and sergers.

Previously an Electronic Technologist, Paul got into the sewing machine service business as a result of his fiancee Leann’s quilting hobby / addiction. (Leann was a frequent customer of Sew Etc). Paul is also an occasional quilter, with one finished project, one UFO, and fabrics chosen for another quilt, design to be determined.

Paul services and repairs all makes of domestic sewing machines and sergers, as well as long-arm and mid-arm quilting machines and frames. His background in Electronics gives him good analytical and troubleshooting skills, and has allowed him to make repairs that few other sewing machine technicians are capable of.
